"Without a coffee house, there is no literature," said Sándor Márai, our 20th-century Hungarian writer, who himself often visited and was inspired to create in the historic building of the New York Café.
And the history of the New York Café, which is more than 120 years old, is truly intertwined with literature – and although the place, also known as the "Most Beautiful Café in the World", has experienced several eras, multiple systems and life-changing historical changes, it has always been reborn – and has been waiting unbroken for artists and, of course, ordinary people alike.
